Digging into Archaeology

Service Description

This is a fun, hands-on introduction to some of the most interesting Archaeological finds around the world. Kids will learn about the tools archaeologists use, the amazing discoveries they have made and this class ends with a museum display day of our projects. Parents are invited to "Museum Day" at the end of this class. Our tentative plan will be: March 10, Week 1 - What is Archaeology? March 17, Week 2 - Wonders of Ancient Egypt March 24 - Spring Break March 31, Week 3 - The Terracotta soldiers of Ancient China April 7, Week 4 - Mesoamerica and the temple ruins April 14, Week 5 - Ancient Greece and the Parthenon April 21, Week 6 - Dig Day and Museum Walkthrough This is a wonderful opportunity to explore a new learning opportunity and make new friends! Pre-Requisites: This class is intended for children in 4-8yrs old. No writing or reading ability is necessary. There will be some writing but we can assist as needed. Fees: This class will meet for six sessions. Each lesson will build upon itself. Class fees are $100 per student with a 10% sibling discount available. A deposit is due upon sign up with the quarter fee is due March 1. If you need a different payment schedule please reach out to us at jessie@shoalseer.org We have a drop off Tuesday Enrichment block from 10am-1pm that you can register for here that includes this class and our "Into the Garden" class. Children registered for both morning classes are welcome to stay for our lunch hour from 12-1pm. Jr. Explorer follows the morning class block from 1-3pm. This is a drop off class. We are a small business and we have maximized our class space which means we only have a small space for parents to wait, but you are welcome to utilize it if you prefer! Maximum class size is 16 students. *All class fees are non refundable once the class has started. All deposits are non refundable once paid*
