Service Description
This is a fun, hands-on introduction to the scientific method, microscopes, different types and how to use them, the microscopic world. We will work in pairs and small groups. What we are going to cover: The Scientific Method The parts of a Scanning and Electron Microscope Who was Antonie van Leeuwenhoek? Preparing a wet mount Preparing a smear slide Petri Dish Experiments Animal vs Plant Cell Dying samples with methylene blue and the different types of bacteria and microscopic life This is a wonderful opportunity to explore a new learning opportunity and make new friends! Pre-Requisites: This class is intended for children 11yrs and up. Some writing and reading ability is needed. We will draw out the things that we observe underneath the microscope and learn about what is needed in a lab report,. Fees: This class will meet for six sessions. Each lesson will build upon itself. Class fees are $100 per student with a 30% sibling discount available. The full fee is due when you register for this class. If you need a different payment schedule please reach out to us at jessie@shoalseer.org. If you need to register a second child please reach out to us directly via email. This is a drop off class. We are a small business and we have maximized our class space which means we only have a small space for parents to wait, but you are welcome to utilize it if you prefer! Class runs from 2:15-3:15pm starting February 12. We will not meet March 12 due to 4H Round up! Maximum class size is 10 students. *All class fees are non refundable once the class has started. All deposits are non refundable once paid*
