Service Description
The Homeschool Planning Retreat is a weekend created just for homeschool parents who want time and space to prepare for the upcoming school year with intention and clarity. Join us at beautiful Camp McDowell in Nauvoo, Alabama, for a peaceful, encouraging retreat focused on rest, reflection, and practical planning for the 2026–27 school year. This first annual retreat offers guided planning time, optional breakout sessions, and opportunities for meaningful connection with other homeschool parents. Resources from our lending library will be available, along with optional sessions such as Intro to Nature Study and Busy Box creation for parents of young children. Whether you’re feeling confident, overwhelmed, or somewhere in between, this weekend is designed to help you slow down, reconnect with your vision for homeschooling, and leave refreshed, equipped, and encouraged for the year ahead. Retreat Dates: Arrival: August 7th at 5:00-7:00pm Departure: August 9th by 10am Registration Details: Pre-Registration: January 24-February 28 Regular Registration: March 1 Room Details: Each room contains two queen beds and a private bathrooms. Rooms are located in a lodge which has a comfortable common area, a beautiful back and front porch for resting and reading or planning. You can choose to share a room or reserve a private room for yourself. Handicap Accessible Rooms are available upon request. Meals: We will provide a hot breakfast bar each morning and a communal dinner each night. Lunch is not provided, but you are welcome to pack your own or venture into Jasper for lunch! If you have any specific dietary restrictions you are encouraged to bring food you feel most comfortable eating. Please let us know about any allergies on the form below. Activities: A full schedule will be released in April. Please select the activities you would be interested in and we will select the most popular options! Fees Standard Room (with a roommate) - $275 per person ($240 for SEER members) Private Room (no roommate) - $400 per person ($360 for SEER members) Just a reminder that the retreat fee covers activities (hiking, canoe access, and all other activities that are retreat specific), 4 meals and lodging. A $50 deposit is required to hold your spot. The full fee will be due July 15. Deposits are non-refundable, or transferable once they have been billed.
